A practicing attorney in Rockford, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Management from The University of Alabama in 1983 and her MBA from The University of Mississippi in 1992.  She was awarded the Juris Doctor degree from The University of Alabama School of Law in 1995.  At The University of Alabama she was inducted into membership in the Anderson Society and was active in student government.
